Our Story

Whitecourt/Lac Ste. Anne Adult Learning

Whitecourt/Lac Ste. Anne Adult Learning is one of many Community Adult Learning Programs administered through Alberta Advanced Education. Provincial funding from the Ministry allows for the delivery of adult foundational learning and literacy opportunities for adults in Alberta communities. The framework for the delivery of programs and services can be built based on the local needs of our communities and learners.

Carla Burkell

Adult Literacy Coordinator

I moved to Whitecourt (from BC) in January 2011 and  appreciate the friendliness of the people here - I felt welcomed right from the start!

My primary role is to coordinate our Volunteer One-On-One Tutoring Program. Our Program is learner-specific, which means that we tailor our tutoring according to the needs of each individual learner. We train our tutors and provide them with resources to assist their learner specifically.

Outside of work, I enjoy bicycling, walking, You Tube exercise videos, reading, and good conversation. I'm also an animal lover and enjoy spoiling our cat, Shadow.

Our Mission

To create stronger communities by providing funds to support adult learning opportunities in the Whitecourt/Lac Ste. Anne area.

Our Vision

Support for Adult Learning endeavors to provide lifelong learning opportunities that strengthen individuals, families and the community.
